The Chicago Skyway inbound entrance ramp to the Dan Ryan Expy. (I-94) local lanes will be closed all day Tuesday after an overnight construction crew damaged the interchange.

Contractors doing maintenance for Metra made a miscalculation with a cutting device while working in the area about 2:15 a.m., according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Illinois State Police were advised that the Dan Ryan portion of the bridge was not damaged and is structurally sound, according to ISP District Chicago Master Sergeant Joseph Stangl.

Commutes on the Metra Rock Island District line and CTA Red Line will also be affected, with slow zones in effect for each rail line, IDOT officials said.

Traffic is being diverted onto the Dan Ryan lanes while crews work to repair the structural integrity of the ramp, according to IDOT.
