Indiana to Conduct Statewide Tornado Drills Wednesday Mar 16, 2011 By Mike Fehn TRI-STATE - With severe weather season right on our back doorstep, now is a good time to go over your family's emergency plan. And to help you out, there will be a statewide tornado drill in Indiana today. It's all part of Severe Weather Safety Awareness Week. There will be two drills. The first at 9:15 central time and the second at 6:35 central time. The National Weather Service, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and other partners in weather safety preparedness encourage the use of this time to activate and review your severe weather safety plans. The National Weather Service office in Wilmington will issue a special weather statement for each of the drills and will activate the all hazards NOAA weather radio using the routine weekly test code. If your NOAA weather radio receiver is set to activate for the routine weekly test, then it should activate for the drill message. |

QUOTE The Storm Prediction Center is considering issuing a new tornado watch that would cover areas ahead of the cold front from southwest Missouri into northwest Illinois. These are the storms that would eventually move into the Chicago area later this evening. http://blog.chicagoweathercenter.com/ |
