List of voting sites released

LaPORTE - County Clerk Bob Behler has released the list of voting sites for the May 8 primary.

Sites are arranged by township trustees and approved by County Commissioners.

Behler said there are a number of location changes. In Michigan City, the 2nd Ward, 1st Precinct location was moved from Grace Church across the street to Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 2725 Wabash St.

In LaPorte, there are three changes because LaPorte Community School Corp. asked that no schools be used. The 1st Ward, 3rd Precinct voting place was moved from Hailmann Elementary School to the Tecumseh Street entrance of LaPorte Civic Auditorium; in 2nd Ward, 1st Precinct, voting has moved from Riley Elementary School to the Park Department Office, 250 Pine Lake Ave.; and in 5th Ward, 2nd Precinct, voting will be at Agape Christian Church, 1601 I St., instead of Handley Elementary School.

Behler also reminded voters there are no contested races in the Republican party in LaPorte, Michigan City or Kingsford Heights. Only Democrat ballots will be available.

1st Ward, 1st Precinct: Mullen Elementary School, 101 Manny Court.

1st Ward, 2nd Precinct: Michigan Township Trustee, 531 E. Michigan Blvd., use Sixth Street door.

1st Ward, 3rd Precinct: First Christian Church, 1102 Cedar St., use 11th Street entrance.

2nd Ward, 1st Precinct: Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 2725 Wabash St.

2nd Ward, 2nd Precinct: Marsh Elementary School, 400 E. Homer St., use northeast entrance.

2nd Ward, 3rd Precinct: Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, 201 Garfield St.

2nd Ward, 4th Precinct: Footlight Players, 1705 Franklin St. Excess parking available across the street.

3rd Ward, 1st Precinct: Neighborhood Center No. 2, 301 Grant Ave.

3rd Ward, 2nd Precinct A/B: Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2536, Earl Road and Ohio Street. Use west entrance.

4th Ward, 1st Precinct: New Creation Church, Pahs Road and Woodland Avenue.

4th Ward, 2nd Precinct: Teamsters Local 135 Union Hall, 4337 S. Ohio St.

4th Ward, 3rd Precinct: Edgewood Elementary School, 502 Boyd Circle.

4th Ward, 4th Precinct: Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 1320 Earl Road.

5th Ward, 1st Precinct: Neighborhood Center No. 6, 1702 E. Michigan Blvd.

5th Ward, 2nd Precinct: DeVries Firestone, 1260 E. Michigan Blvd.

5th Ward, 3rd Precinct: Fire Administration Building, 2510 E. Michigan Blvd. Handicapped parking at front entrance; all others use rear entrance.

5th Ward, 4th Precinct: Sinai Temple, 2800 Franklin St. Use rear parking lot entrance.
