My gym lobby is just past the foyer, to the right, just before you reach the trophy room with the gorilla-chest vest display.

Hoppy Gipson is Nate Gipson. Works for NIPSCO and I believe he sits on the school board. That team also included Fred LaBorn, Gene Simmons, and Rob McFarland.

I have to jump in here. Nate Gipson is Hoppy Gipson's older brother. Hoppy is Larry Gipson.

Forgive me, please. I'm reading backwards which is why I appear so unorganized. More clarification: Hoppy graduated in '66; Nate in '62 or '63; Rob McF in'66; and Gene Simmons in '64. I believe that Hoppy and Rob played on the B-team when Nate and Gene played on varsity.

Thanks for the correction on the Gipson boys Michele. But, as for Rob, he told me he played on that team during the winning game. He said he did when he gave me his jacket to put in Heritage Hall. He even talked about about it like he was there. And if Gene Simmons graduated in '64, why is he in the picture?

Ooops, my bad. I just dug out mom's 65 Elstonian. It's O'Neil Simmons. Not Gene.

My question:

What restaurant was shaped like a boat and where was it?

The Pirate Ship. It was on south Franklin near the Holiday Inn - though I don't remember if the Holiday Inn was there yet. That's where I had my first job when I was 14 - as I mentioned in the First MC Jobs thread.

Take another one, Ang!

These "siblings" can sure mess up our history recollections! Until your reply, I, too forgot O'Neill. When you're talking about Rob "on that team during the winning game", you must mean the State Champs, right? He was a leader on that team, and a great player and a great guy.

Let me rephrase:

There is a restaurant in town currently open for business. It USED to be in a building shaped like a boat, but is now across the road and farther north. Anyone know what it is?

Rob still is a great guy. And yes, I did mean the championship team/game.

BTW Michele, I noticed you're in that book as well. wink.gif Do you remember Linda Lochmaier (65) or Suzanne Peters (66)?

So, then - my answer was correct - but you're thinking of somewhere else. Do you remember the Pirate Ship? The end facing Franklin looked like the back end of a pirate ship.

Woohoo!

On Franklin Street, the building now occupied by Ivy Tech was originally a hospital. What was the name of the hospital?

Suzanne is my Aunt. Linda is my mom. Well have to chat off board and I'll tell you how she's (Suzanne) doing.
