How many BK Root Beer stands were there? I think there was one on Franklin across the street from the BK Products office that was just south of the tracks you cross heading to the beach - one on south Franklin across from the Rose Bowl - and I think one out on 12.
Anyone remember? |

One more - The Glass House
This was on the NE corner of 421 and 20. There used to be signs on 421 coming north from US 30 - they'd say "Only 19 more miles to...." - " only 17 more miles to...." When my sisters and I were little kids our grandparents live in Columbus OH - we'd always come across on 30 and come up 421 - I vividly remember those signs. The food here was very good. |

I remember the A&W root beer stand on Hwy 12 (Second Street). We lived on Mulligan Street back in the day and would always get a bite to eat there every now and then. Since we're on the topic of that area....how about.....Froms (it was a hardware store) and Josam?? Dunham-Bush, Blocksom (they had 2 companies, one just off of Trail Creek and the other, on Center Street), and the ever-so-scary (to me, anyway!) 2nd Street Bridge??? That bridge used to scare the daylights outta me for some reason as a child!

Brownie's Griddle
THis would have been in the 50's - George Brown had 3 locations. One was where Papa John's used to be in the Park N. Shop area - one was at 5th and Franklin - one was out on Michigan. |

You're absolutely correct and I was most definitely wrong!!!! It was B&K root beer stand!! Boy oh boy...don't know what made me think of A&W, unless I had root beer on the brain! LOL! Thanks for clarifying that for me!!

Thanks for clarifying that for me!! That may be because A&W root beer stands and B-K root beer stands looked alike. I think there was a central distributor, and local frnachises added their name. I know the "K" in B-K stood for the lat Bill Kenifeck (sp?) and the "B" might be for Burgerson - a prominent name in MC hot dog lore. So there you go! |
