Happy 2014! During my recent visit to MC I ate at five of our local establishments. My thoughts -

Memo's - had breakfast there my first morning in town. I had pancakes and sausage. This breakfast could not have been more perfect. Pancakes served hot - you'd think that wouldn't be so tough to pull off, but many restaurants just don't get that. Really - I can't imagine how they could have made it better. Total score.

Albano's - had a cheese and sausage pizza, and was almost in tears at how good it was. I only eat take-out as I find the pizza served in the eating area to hot and gooey. This pizza tasted just like the pizzas from Albano's when I was 13. On a scale of 1 to 10 - 11.

Ritz Klub - met with some of our own for the 2013 Burger Feed. Had a cheeseburger - massive. As well as it was prepared I'd have to say it was just not as flavorful as I'd hoped. Like they forgot a little seasoning. Great fries and great service - just need to put a little pizazz in those burgers, IMO.

Swingbelly's - amazing. I had the 1/2 lb Belly Burger.... it was so freaking good. I was with a party of 10, so the place was busy, but our server knocked herself out to make sure we were taken care of. Everyone in our party loved what they were served and, again, that burger was life-affirmingly good.

Lindo's - breakfast. Excellent, except for the fact that I had to send my pancakes back for a quick zap in the microwave. Pancakes have to be served steaming hot - these weren't, but were still quite good. Overall a great breakfast.

For fast food I hit Arby's once - had a great roast beef sandwich!

So - there you have it. Bo apetit!

I like Sophia's for anything breakfast at any time of day.

Last few times in MC I stopped at Bartlett's in Pines - Awesome every time I go.

I went to Sophia's once - they served tepid pancakes. Never went back.

I liked the food as Sophia's, but it was really expensive for a breakfast.

As I'm only in MC 7 or 8 days a year I don't have time for restaurants to get it right. As long as places like Memo's and Lindo's keep cranking out near-perfect breakfasts I have no need to go anywhere else. My mom always wants to go to Ihop - I have never had a good experience there. I'm like Ma, you have 11 months and 3 weeks to go there - give it a rest! lol

I had a really bad experience at IHOP years ago and got into a tif with the management over it. I haven't been back since. I do agree that with a place like Lindos around, I don't really need to experiment, but I did want to check it out to support small business.

Here's my MC 5 star pancake reviews:

Lindos: ****

Denny's: *

Schoop's: *****

IHOP: *

Sophia's: ***

McDonald's: **

Schoop's pancakes was of course of tops, as they were big and heavy. Denny's have great French Toast, but their pancakes looked like a corpse, and IHOP serves their lukewarm pancake breakfast on a coffee plate. Did have pancakes at the former Dino's once. They tasted like cardboard.

I like Memo's for breakfast because they always serve large portions.

The Friday morning $7.77 all you can eat breakfast buffet at Options at Blue Chip is really good if your a big eater.

As I reached the end of my visit I was chagrined to realize I only went to breakfast twice and had no more time to go one more time. I've been to both the MC IHOP and Denny's - hated both. I'm intrigued with 801, as I've heard the serve pancakes similar to the old M&M. Gotta hit Schoop's as well. Great review!
