MERRILLVILLE | A typical NIPSCO residential customer's gas bill for the winter heating season will be about 7.7 percent lower this winter as compared to last, according to the utility's annual winter bill projections released Wednesday.

Merrillvillle-based NIPSCO forecasts a typical residential customer using 623 therms of natural gas can expect to pay about $461 in gas bills for the winter heating season, which runs from Nov. 1 to March 31. Last winter that same customer paid $499 for those five months.

I just heard on the T.V. that they expect heating bills to go up. Of course that is another provider but I have never seen Nipsco give up an opportunity to make money. It would be a nice relief for a change to not have to struggle through the winter wondering what gas prices are doing. They are also predicting more snow this year than last year--welcome to Northwest Indiana folks.
