We took the kids up to the beach at Mt Baldy yesterday... Man the beach has really gotten rough there. The drop off has gotten really steep, and the beach is really rocky. The kids had fun though. I did want to mention the park ranger on duty there was excellent. With a two year old in full meltdown, he did everything he could to help out.

Where is everyone else going for beach fun this year?

We've only been able to get down to the lakefront one time this year, and that was to Washington Park. Incidentally, the entire time I was there, I was thinking of the photos posted in an earlier thread about the muck dumping, and did notice a lot of "stuff" floating in the water that I'd never noticed before. Sand was clean, but the water was really gross.

Last year, we spent a lot of time in LaPorte on Pine Lake. Not bad, as long as you don't mind the rocks and seaweed. Personally, I prefer the Lake Michigan shorline.

We tried to get to the beach at Washington Park the day of the fireworks - dumb move - couldn't get anywhere near the beach. Went last summer though - had a blast!

I like the beaches West of Mt. Baldy including no man's land, Kemil, Bev Shores and West of Bev Shores. Jheath, SSer, if you guys ever want to bring your family to Bev Sho beach, I can loan you a sticker for the day.

On the weekends, yes. The local's lots sit half full usually.

On the weekends if you aren't parked in a public lot by 8:30 or 9:00 you WILL NOT find parking.

Last summer when I was home for vacation, we went to the Porter Beach. That was nice. Not much parking tho so you have to get there early.

Yeah, my house. Beer is five bucks, a sandwich is five bucks, and a golf cart ride is five bucks. Jansenns Gas Station at the corner of 12 and and Broadway in Beverly Shores serves the bestest $.99 Ice Milk/Cream Cones in the world. It's about a 1 mile staight shot down Broadway to the beach from there.
