2 NW Ind. counties will miss property tax deadline
Indianapolis, Ind.
Two northwest Indiana counties will be the only ones in the state that won't send out bills for property taxes on time.

The Department of Local Government Finance said Friday that Lake and LaPorte counties are the only two that will miss the May 10 deadline.

The Times of Munster reports it's the first time since 2002 that as many as 90 counties will issue property tax bills on time. No county had on-time billing in 2008, and only two counties billed on time in 2009. Last year, 85 counties had bills released on time.
