ALCo working out problems

Published: Thursday, March 4, 2010 4:19 AM CST
LA PORTE — Internet provider troubles have prevented Access La Porte County from broadcasting live County Commission meetings during the past weeks, said Gene Abraham, ALCo’s studio technical director.

“We’ve isolated the problem,” Abraham said Tuesday. “At first, we thought it was the firewall, but it wasn’t. It’s not our equipment, and it’s not the county’s fault ... we just have to get Verizon to work with our servers.”

Tuesday’s commissioners meeting was broadcast live on the Internet, but not on Channel 97 due to the problems, Abraham said. He hopes to get Verizon’s service integrated with ALCo’s equipment within two weeks.

Commission President Barb Huston said she has received several complaints from residents about a myriad of problems, including the video feed going out during the meeting.
