QUOTE The Northwest Indiana chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals will honor those committed to helping the less fortunate during an awards program next week. The third annual National Philanthropy Day awards program starts at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 17 at the Sand Creek Country Club, 1001 S. Clubhouse Drive in Chesterton. Carolyn Saxton, the association's president, said the Merrillville chapter of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association will be recognized for its extensive fundraising efforts to benefit local charities and organizations. Michigan City's Lubeznik family also will be honored for its "multigenerational giving," Saxton said. She said association members nominated groups and people for the philanthropy awards and a committee selected two recipients. Eugene Tempel, president of the Indiana University Foundation, will speak during the event, which is open to the public, Saxton said. Tickets are $35 for members of the association and $40 for nonmembers. Tickets can be bought from Cindy Hall at Ivy Tech Community College, 3100 Ivy Tech Drive in Valparaiso. Reservations and payments must be made by Thursday. Read more: http://www.nwitimes.com/news/local/porter/...l#ixzz1dJXwNa2y |
