QUOTE BEVERLY SHORES -- The U.S. Marshals Service removed one of the remaining holdouts from her home on May 12 at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. According to court records, Deborah Pavel was removed without incident from the home at 260 S. Prospect in Beverly Shores. She was taken to a Red Roof Inn in Michigan City. Pavel’s home is on land that was bought by the U.S. government starting in 1966 with the intention of adding it to the Lakeshore. Homeowners were allowed to stay for more than 40 years, but the last two dozen families were expected to move out last fall. Pavel and Ann and George Bagnall are some of the last holdouts. On May 2, the court ruled against the Bagnalls, ordering them to remove their possessions from the property or they could be forcibly removed. |
