How many people get out there and use this on a regular basis? Its seems like a great place to walk/run, at least the few times I have gotten out there. It should be a really nice looking place once the vegitation takes root there.
Out of curiousity, does anyone know what the distance around the long loop is? Its seems like it should be pretty close to a mile. |

the big loop is one mile, the little loop is half. If you do a figure 8 twice, that is a 5k.
I agree that it is a very nice running area. If you are interested in any other 5k routes, let me know. |

Excellent! Thanks for the info, that will come in real handy. I'd love to hear any other routes you have. I am trying to get back to running again, and haven't really done so since I ran XCountry in college over 10 years ago. |

I usually run in the city, on or along streets. If you park at park n shop, you can go up franklin to 11th and then back, it is around 3 mi. Then get something to eat at china one.
at gardena, that loop is half a mile, and it is half a mile to franklin street. So, do one loop in the park, then go down gardena to franklin, then back to the park, do another loop, and you have gone 2 miles. I suggest doing two loops, then the run to franklin, then 2 loops = 3 miles. OR, park on franklin, run to the park, do four loops, then back to franklin, then get something to eat at the mexican place. if you are doing multiple loops, put little stickes in your pocket equal in number to the number of laps you will do, and at the completion of each lap, toss out one stick. When you have no more sticks, you are done with the loops. |

I see that they have the footbridge over the creek (ditch) completed along Earl Road. Does anyone know if they intend to extend that sidewalk further east (say to the Coolspring\Earl Road intersection) so that you could reach the park by foot without having to brave walking in the street?

Welcome to the site :cheers
I was wondering the samething myself. I do like the little bridge, as it means I could walk/run there without being in the road too often, as all I would need to do is cross Earl Road. It would be nice if the walk extended all of the way to Ohio Street though. |

I think the sidewalk just goes about a block to the east. This is part of the big plan by Laura at the parks dept to develop the 27 miles of bike/running paths through the city.
