QUOTE The Michigan City Public Library is making changes to adapt to the shifting needs of the community. In just a few weeks, it will start a three phase renovation project. The 40-year-old library will see new furniture, shelving and carpeting. More tech and computer resources will be added, and new spaces for all ages will also be created for research, collaboration and experimentation. The Youth Services Department is the first area that will be expanded, since a lot of kids use the library. A highlight of the renovations in the Youth Services Department includes a “Makerspace” where students can design, create and explore. |

They should have moved the library when they got rid of the police station and N-D building. If we had a Leader with a true Vision, Franklin would be opened up all the way to our best asset, the Lake. We could have built a new awesome library with a large center for large Michigan City meetings and break out rooms where they are building the new apartment building. Our Planners need to learn to think way bigger then little parks on building lots, they need to look at the big picture. Oh well, we will watch another round of planning ignorance.

I don't know why, but the City is dead set against opening up Franklin. I have no idea why, but they are. I will never understand the resources they put into that part of town at the expense of everywhere else... but they won't do the one obvious thing to get more people in there... traffic.
