Down to $1.94 in MC now, I saw as low as $1.84 on my train ride yesterday. The trend continues to be good s so far, as Crude Oil is sitting at $54, with the gasoline futures having gone as low as $1.11. If that holds up, we could be looking at $1.75 to $1.80 pretty easily.

I was just out and about--it's $1.91 at Jewel as of 11:30am. |

Bear in mind that the gas at Jewel has alcohol in it.

$1.50 this morning! Gosh, I can't BELIEVE how low the prices are right now. I can't remember when gas was so cheap, it's been so long since it has been.

FWIW, Crude Oil futures are sitting just above $50, with gasoline futures having traded as low as $1.01. $50 and $1 are both really big psychological numbers.

If gas prices in MC get below $1 per gallon, I will eat a bug at noon at the corner of 11th and Franklin.
There's some incentive for OPEC to drop prices! |

With a 7% sales tax and about 55 cents worth of state and federal taxes on a gallon of gasoline, that is pretty much impossible anymore, so you are off of the hook! |

Regarding the futures price, are those the prices for 6-month delivery? And what did you say is the price range, given a specified futures price, for gas at retail?

Regarding the futures price, are those the prices for 6-month delivery? And what did you say is the price range, given a specified futures price, for gas at retail? When I give a futures price, it is the next delivery month. Currently the front month is December delivery of 42,000 gallons of reformulated blend NYMEX unleaded gasoline. For our pump prices you have to take the futures price and then add about 55 cents for state and federal gasoline taxes, about a nickel for station profits, and 7% for a sales tax total. Usually that runs about 65 to 80 cents a gallon, depending on what time of year it is, and other external factors such as outages, shortages, weather, seasonal blends, etc. |

I was in LaPorte on Saturday morning, and did the same thing. I wonder why there is a $0.20 difference between the two towns. I was wondering the same thing myself. I think it must be some kind of price war, because the lowest price I have seen besides LaPorte was $1.57 in East Chicago and Hammond. Most stations are in the high 1.60's. |
