In today's paper...

Stalbrink takes Superior Court 2 race

Dave Hawk
The News-Dispatch

LA PORTE - Democrat Richard Stalbrink swamped Republican Tom Rutkowski in voting Tuesday to become judge of La Porte Superior Court 2.

The final tally was 29,521 to 14,974.

"That's amazing, that's a wonderful thing," Stalbrink said when apprised he'd built an 8,500-vote margin with only 12 precincts left to count.

"I stood out for 12 hours today at the polls just encouraging people to vote, and we went back to Galveston (Steakhouse) to watch the results," Stalbrink said. "Today, everybody worked hard. It was a strong showing."

Asked what he attributed his victory to, Stalbrink said, "It's just involvement in the community, and the more involved you are, the more people you touch. I'm on several boards in the community and Amber, my fiance, is on several, and Angie is involved, and people remember that."

He was referring to Amber Lapaich, an attorney, and Michigan City Councilwoman Angie Nelson.

Lapaich and Nelson "were with me from Day One," he said. "We didn't have a very large team, but we did have a very strong and knowledgeable team.".........

I am glad its over. I love campaigning but it can wear you down. Angie

I was wondering about this, as it wasn;t in Wednesday's paper.

Hey, RD, are there complete precinct by precinct results online anywhere?
