Has anyone else listened to his morning show? Much better than the other stations in town--he's looking to make a difference out here. |

Thank you very much for the compliment on the morning show, we are looking to continue to add local elements throughout the dayparts as time goes on and revenue is generated.
Does anyone know of either a fishing/hunting type show that has already been around or anyone that would like to do a show like this? A fishing expert with great pipes? I've always thought that we should have that on in the early AM either Saturday or Sunday morning.... |

Man, its threads like this that make me miss my old college radio days. I loved the show I did, and the sportscasting I did, especially the basketball. Good times.
Good luck in finding a new show, if I hear anything I will pass it on! |

"The Talk of the South Shore" is a newly-launched news/talk station with offices and studios in Michigan City. The station's 24-hour format consists of a mix of live, local and national programming, features and local call-in segments offering information and entertainment. The station's programming lineup will also include live popular national personalities covering topical discussions, information and call-in segments. Its weekdays morning drive segment from 5:30 to 9 a.m. will feature radio personality Ric Federighi. Federighi, who serves as the station's general manager, is a former on-air personality at Chicago stations WLS and WLUP. He also was on the on-air personality at Hammond's WJOB 1230 and was part owner of the Hammond-based station. Federighi and Alexis Vazquez Dedelow bought WJOB and WIMS at a 2004 bankruptcy auction. There was a split in ownership and programming late last year, with Federighi and two of his brothers assuming ownership of WIMS, which is part of Gerard Media LLC, and Vazquez Development LLC continuing to own and operate WJOB. "It’s great to be back, live and do local (programming)," Federighi said. CBS Radio will supply the station's national news programming. WIMS will also have studio and field reporters, according to a news release. The station's local coverage will be provided by a news team, including LaPorte resident Anna Marie Galloway and Valparaiso resident Matt Werkema. "WIMS is committed to informing and entertaining listeners with balanced local, regional and national news/talk programming," WIMS program director Johnny Rush said. Can Ric put this mb on his links on the wims page? I'm sure that we can...thanks for the kind words, we will have our web designer come up with a logo and get the link up by tommorrow night. If anyone DOES have an "official" City by the Lake dot org logo, just send it to me at rush@wimsradio.com. If not, we will get to work on it. Did anyone have a chance to listen at all on election night? It was our first real attempt at covering an election live since the big re-launch. I will be able to finally listen to the tape on Saturday (I was out in the field), but I would appreciate any feedback on what we could have done better. Ric is having a blast, and we appreciate all the phone calls/emails...it makes it easy to be an open forum for the Michigan City/ La Porte communities.... Johnny |

How about a Tower/Lighthouse/dune scene with a big tidal wave coming in?

Gerrard Media own the HA and the ND. THAT's why I never heard about the HA purchase and subsequent job loss, except on 95.9. I was wondering...plus I heard Corp. told them not to say anything.
Can Ric 'fess up? There is a cred problem here that would be nice to clear up. Admin: Can you merge the WIMS Goes 24 Hrs and this thread? The difference between genius and stupidity is that there are limits to genius. Albert Einstein

Gerrard Media LLC is simply Ric and his brothers, it is the Paxton Media Group that owned the Dispatch and then purchased the Argus...you can find more info about them on their Wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paxton_Media_Group (I do not endorse Wikipedia, it's not always accurate, but it gives you a simple overview of things).
We had our partnership with the former editor of the Herald Argus John Newby, and the only thing Newby said was do not promote the Dispatch...we were allowed to promote/have guests on from the Times, the Post, the Chesterton Tribune etc... Finding out about the merger at the same time as everyone else did...by reading about it in the Argus...was one of the most embarrassing moments in my radio career. It did explain why I couldn't get them to move forward with a planned one hour weekly show with some of their columnists, couldn't get them to write/give bullet points for a 60 second commercial, and everything like that...I was actually very upset on how that whole thing took place. We still have our partnership with the editors over at the Argus, and really...the whole relationship is simply there to give opinion and foster conversation on the radio. We do all of our own news, and they do all of their own news...our relationship is a cross-promotional one, where we have our logo in their paper and their editors talk about the news live on our air... It is against the law for a radio station to own a newspaper in the community they are heard in. It would have to be a free paper. The only exception is the Tribune in Chicago...they were grandfathered in. I hope this clears things up a bit...feel free to ask any other questions... |

My mistake re Gerrard media.
Thank you for the clarification. I am glad to have my confidence in your station renewed. I switched to wims and cannot see a reason to switch. I do tell people to give you a listen.
