QUOTE Lauri Harvey Keagle lauri.keagle@nwi.com, (219) 852-4311 MICHIGAN CITY | A 26-year-old Gary man died early Sunday after being struck and killed by a train delivering coal to NIPSCO's Michigan City Generating Station. Randall Williams, 26, of the 7700 block of Indian Boundary Road, was found dead around 7 a.m. after a South Shore Freight train delivered its load of coal, Northwestern Indiana Commuter Transportation District Transit Police Chief Bob Byrd said. LaPorte County Coroner John Sullivan said Williams was pronounced dead at the scene just after 7 a.m. The cause of death was listed as massive blunt force trauma suffered in an accident, Sullivan said. Byrd and Sullivan said it was unclear how Williams arrived at the generating station. He was not an employee of the rail company or NIPSCO and was not spotted before the accident trespassing on the property, Byrd said. |
