QUOTE Drill Show Is Saturday MICHIGAN CITY - The Michigan City Soul Steppers in conjunction with the Summer Festival will hold a Drill Team/Drumline competition Saturday, July 26, at Elston Middle High School. Its theme is "Show Up & Show Out" and organizer Lyn Isbell describes it as "the first ever competition of this magnitude to be held in the state of Indiana." The host Soul Steppers Drill Team will give special performance. The visiting teams will each bring between 25 and 70 members to Michigan City, Isbell said. "This is sure to be another summer explosive event filled with fun entertainment for everyone," she said. Doors open at 4 p.m., and the show starts at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10, and children 5 and under are admitted free. Tickets may be purchased at City Hall, Senior Center, the Michigan City Parks & Recreation Department or Captain Ed's Candy (Quality Rent to Own) or by calling (219) 874-2607. Competing teams will include The Isiserettes Drill & Drum Squad of Des Moines, Iowa; The Lord's Warriors Drill Team of Waterloo, Iowa; Gateway Highsteppers Drill Team of Kansas City, Kan.; Unlimited Next Level Drill & Dance Performing Arts of Minneapolis, Minn.; Midwest Soldiers Drill Team of St. Paul, Minn.; Metropolitan Youth Program of Rock Island, Ill.; Decatur Power Drillers of Decatur, Ill.; Memphis Community Youth Mighty Marchers of Memphis, Tenn.; Pythons Drill Team of Kansas City, Mo.; Waukegan Jazz Steppers of Waukegan, Ill.; Kansas City Marching Falcons of Kansas City, Mo.; The Marching Knights Drill Team of Omaha, Neb.; The Infamous Marching White Tigers of Wichita, Kan.; The Harvey Blue Angels Flag & Drill Team of Harvey, Ill.; The Kansas City Marching Sizzlers of Kansas City, Mo.; Southeast Missouri Bootheel Marching Phantoms of New Madrid, Mo.; and Next Level Royalettes & Knights Drill Team of Chicago.
