So now that I have joined the land of the technogically able, and bought a laptop, I thought it might be a good idea to get a hot spot thread going for wifi around town. Here is my list of places so far...

I was able to connect while parked in front of that coffee shop by Lighthouse Place. I believe it's on 6th St. Could be 7th. I think it's called Lakeshore coffee or some such thing like that.

La Porte County Library, Coolspring Branch (Johnson Rd. and 400 N.), I believe the WorkOne Office in Dunes Plaza has it too.

I believe Mc Donald's charges for their wifi, but I could be wrong. I sure could not get wifi to work when I was at the restaurant on Michigan Blvd. several weeks ago.

I just checked the McDonald's web site and it appears as though they charge for wifi, though I could be reading this incorrectly. They state:
"Our local service providers provide high-quality Wi-Fi service through several convenient connection options: on-line credit card payment, subscriptions, prepaid cards, or (sometimes) promotional coupons." http://www.mcdonalds.com/wireless/general_...neral_info.html |

So I have tried out a couple of different hot spots. The downtown one actually works pretty well. I also had pretty good luck on the BWW spot. I had a great signal in the City Council chambers too.
