Harris To Run For Clerk
MICHIGAN CITY - Michigan City Republican Keith A. Harris has announced he is a candidate for the office of La Porte County clerk.

Harris said he believes the future of the clerk's office is rooted in technology.

"I have been the owner of a technology-based business for nearly nine years and I believe that experience bestows upon me the valuable knowledge necessary to lead this office into the future.

"The time has come to take the lead of the technology in the clerk's office instead of the technology doing the leading," said Harris. "Whoever is chosen to be the clerk of the Circuit Court must have a firm handle and understanding of the technology that will be implemented over the coming years. Without that higher level of understanding, the implementation and the cost of that implementation can very quickly get out of control."

Prior to opening his business, Harris had more than 20 years of management experience in industrial, retail, service and governmental sectors.

"In the positions I have held, I can take pride in the fact that I was able to proficiently manage both people and resources within budgetary constraints," he said.

Keith Harris and his wife, Donna, live in Michigan City and own Custom PC Technologies. He is a Republican Party precinct committeeman, a recently elected member of the Michigan City Fire Merit Commission, a member of the La Porte County Republican Party, the Greater Michigan City Republican Club, the 463GOP Republican Club, Barker Woods Enrichment Center, Elks Lodge 432 and St. Joe Young Men's Society.

Harris, who ran for city council in 2007, also provides volunteer service to Barker Woods Enrichment Center, International Friendship Gardens and the La Porte County Genealogical Society.
