In unrelated news, the board unanimously awarded a bid in the amount of $1,311,487 for the purchase of a new aerial truck for the Michigan City Fire Department, as was approved in the 2015 budget.
The truck will be an E-1 Bronto Aerial Truck coming from Rosenbauer and should be delivered to Michigan City later this year.

Fire Chief Ronnie Martin said the brand new truck will be built to specifications provided by MCFD. It will be built in Minnesota and delivered to Michigan City, making stops at a handful of cities along the way to "showcase" the truck to other communities. This agreement saved the city $100,000 on the cost of the truck.
