MICHIGAN CITY — The main location for the Boys & Girls Club of Michigan City now has more than six times the space from a recent move with its eye on serving more children with greater programming.

It's occupying 24,000 square feet at the former Elston High School after moving in early March from the old Central Elementary School. That space was less than 4,000 square feet and was used since its inception 20 years ago.

"With that comes so much opportunity for us to really offer the full Boys & Girls Club experience in Michigan City," said Brandi Lewis, executive director.

A total of 60 percent of the 567 children served last year were at the old location while the remainder were from club extensions at Pines and Springfield elementary schools.
