In reading through old and new posts, I noticed occasional talk about meet and greets, plus some other posts talking about other things to do. I thought City at Rest might be a good area to bring up the idea of some of us getting together (and inviting other friends and residents if you wanted) for occasional fun evenings. Here are a few ideas I obtained from the forum threads: A round of local restaurants (as a group) to determine the best burger (you all know where that one came from). We could pick one night a month to try a different place and make notes and vote after all have been sampled. A group trip to Buffalo Wild Wings or Damons for a group trivia contest night. A group get together for a board game night or card game night (could be at someone's home once we know each other better OR sooner if you long time locals know a community center or other place we can use. That would be great) A group day at the beach with our families included and a beach volleyball tournament. (I would love to play - did not say I was any good at it, mind you. For one thing I am really short). I would be interested to know if others on the board think this might be a good idea and to hear other ideas for fun group nights (or days). I would have to lean on you old timers for getting this going as no one really knows me. Any thoughts? EDIT NOTE: btw I just noticed the thread description I thought I typed, dropped the I for ideas...how do I fix that? * "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Only a mod or admin can edit topc titles. I gotcha, though IndyT. I had to change it a little cause space is limited. Sorry
I think your ideas are awsome though. Hopefully some of these events can be planned around my trips home. Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind~Dr. Suess

And I noticed Ang had said in another thread) she would maybe be here for a short visit in May - that would be a time we definitely want to have something! * "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Group nights would be great! I'd totally do a trivia night at BWW. Damon's has really gone downhill. The menu has shrunk, gotten more expensive, and the service has gone down.
But I would totally check out any of the other ideas as well! |

We could start with a trivia night - that would be fun! (Nothing like meeting you all for the first time and falling flat on my face in a trivia contest)
What is the consensus on a weeknight or weekend afternoon or night that works for most? Also still would love input on other ideas. * "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." One more idea for a nice Spring morning/afternoon - have a group cleanup at the beach (picking up some of the trash and stuff) for a couple of hours followed by a nice picnic in the park or lunch somewhere close by. * "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
