Girls will open next Friday at South Bend Adams, but it could be rescheduled to another night if the football team is still playing. Boys open up the Saturday after thanksgiving at home against Concord.
Boys drop Curie and Bowman. They pick up East Chicago. They also have a couple shootouts at home. LaLumiere will also come the Wolves Den. City also plays in a tournament in Illinois over the holidays. Girls drop Westville and Gary Roosevelt. Pick up LaCrosse and will play in the Penn Tourney over the holidays. How good will both be this year? |

It was too good to be true. 10 seniors and home court for sectionals and regionals. Let's focus now on the spring sports. Many individuals in track can shine again. I guess this isn't a basketball town after all. I guess further proof that the BB sectional titles in the 60's and 70's were way over rated. Beating up on Union Mills, New Prairie, Westville and St. Mary's not to hard to win a title.

Beating up on Union Mills, New Prairie, Westville and St. Mary's not to hard to win a title. Merrillville won the regional title last night and advanced to semi-state. In 8 years under John Boyd, Michigan City has now gone 0-4 VS, the Bucs in sectional play. Meanwhile, Michigan City Marquette won their 3rd regional title in 4 seasons tonight with a 67-65 come from behind win over Gary Roosevelt tonight and will face Frankton in the semi-state (most likely at Huntington North). Since Marquette won sectional last year and regional this year means the Blazers have achieved their 3 success factor points to remain in class 2A for the next two years for boys basketball. It is also impressive that both Marquette boys and girls programs have reached the semi-state round in the same season. Still not sure which conference Marquette will compete in next year now that their days in the Greater South Shore Conference are over. Right now it is looking like the Blazers will become an independent for the forseeable future.. |
