This is all public info. How much was YOUR property assessed at? Do you have a nice big 600 square foot swimming pool with a 600 square foot bath house? How big is your house? Is it small, 1000 square feet or is it really big like 2,500 square feet? What's your neighborhood like? Do you live on the Lake with a view or on a golf course? Is it a neighborhood where there are broke down domestic cars or do you see BMW's and Cadillacs? Just a question.
This is interesting. Here is a house which is 2800 square feet, not including the basement of course. It has a pool and a bathhouse attached to the house and the house is a nice brick building. It's also on a beautiful one acre lot in one of LaPorte's finest neighborhoods. Gee, I wish I knew the right people. I'll tell you what though, if this house ever goes on the market for $241,000 I'll be the first one in line with check in hand! |

I think Shaw is going to be pissed when the City Hall people tell him you've put this up here.

I think it was Daffy Duck who, upon entering the Southern General's (Yosemite Sam) palatial estate, sneered, "Hmmm...Imposing looking pile..."

If you really want to get your blood boiling go here: http://www.xsoftin.com/laporte/parcelsearch.aspx Search street name Greenacres and you'll see that his intire neighborhood is grossly under assessed. |

I'm not disagreeing with you. You asked for my thoughts and I told you what I thought. And so does the $2 million house assessed at $200K belong to a friend of the cronies (or one of the cronies)? I don't recognize the owners' names.

I don't recognize the owners' names. OK, thanks. I don't know who owns the sweet digs. Check out that tree house though, I wouldn't mind shacking up in there; it's cool! My point on that is to show how out of wack things are in LaPorte County. Did you watch the video from the DLGF hearing on March 5th? In the begining of that video Tom Atherton, the attorney from Indy explains what's going on in LaPorte county. Basically the county needs to arrive at a final number with no regard on how they arrive at that number. Because of this, some houses are spot on, some are over assessed and some are under assessed. Things are all out of wack and that's why the DLGF needs to call for a reassessment of LaPorte County. |

It's a wonder he hasn't had his house taken off the satelite maps.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was a review for some new restaurant!
Now that the Po-Po have interviewed the Assessor, does it go to the grand jury if the prosecutor decides there is some reason to pursue a case? It wouldn't be Beckman's decision, would it? The difference between genius and stupidity is that there are limits to genius. Albert Einstein

Prosecutors always have discretion on whether or not they're going to indict someone. But as I said in the other thread, Beckman had better have a durn good reason not to, or something's going to hit the fan. |
