MICHIGAN CITY | Barker Mansion will host its annual American Girl Doll tea party at 2 p.m. April 12 at 631 Washington St.

This year’s featured doll is Felicity, a spunky 9-year-old girl growing up in colonial Williamsburg, Va. Her stories take place between 1774 and 1776 just as the Revolutionary War is starting. Felicity comes from a Patriot family--a family that wants the colonies to be independent from England. Felicity also struggles for independence by rebelling against what her parents and society expect of her. Vignettes of Felicity’s life will on display.

Girls are invited to bring their American Girl doll or their favorite doll to this event.

The afternoon’s program begins with a brief tea party etiquette lesson, followed by “Queen’s cakes,“ sugar biscuits (cookies), other colonial treats, scones, fruit, hot tea and lemonade served in Barker Mansion’s elegant Drawing Room. There will be chairs at the tables for each girl’s doll. A fun craft, favors and viewing of the movie “Felicity: an American Girl Adventure” complete the afternoon. American Girl books and American Girl play scenes will be for sale.

The cost is $8 for girls, ages 5 and older, and $15 for adults. A minimum of one adult attending per two children is required. Pre-paid reservations are necessary, as seating is limited.

Reservations may be made until March 24. For more information and reservations, call (219) 873-1520.
