MICHIGAN CITY | A new community health care center will open Friday in Michigan City.

The center will be run by HealthLinc (formerly Hilltop Community Health Center) in conjunction with the Open Door Clinic, St. Anthony's Hospital and other local Michigan City organizations to serve uninsured and the under-insured.

HealthLinc will see patients regardless of their ability to pay using a sliding fee scale. Initially, the Michigan City clinic will provide medical services including prenatal care and pediatric and adult primary care.

The clinic is located at 710 Franklin Street in Michigan City. People interested in information or making an appointment can call HealthLinc at (219) 872-6200. The clinic will be open 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

HealthLinc is a not-for-profit Federally Qualified Health Center that provides a range of medical, dental, and mental health services to people of all ages regardless of a patient's ability to pay.

This new center is HealthLinc's first expansion beyond the original clinic in the Hilltop neighborhood of Valparaiso.
