A driver suspected of shooting at another car on U.S. Interstate 80 last week was arrested this afternoon after firing at a semi during a police chase in Montgomery County, Ind., officials said.

Police began chasing the suspect's car -- a stolen Dodge Charger -- after spotting it heading west on U.S. Interstate 74 around 2:30 p.m. At some point, the driver fired at a tractor-trailer but the truck driver was not injured, officials said.

Indiana state police used spike strips to blow out the Charger's tires, but the suspect got out and ran into a wooded area. A police dog found him "hiding in water," according to a statement from state police. A gun was found on the scene, it added.

The suspect, Aaron Di Shon Windom, 25, of Michigan City, was taken to a local hospital to be treated for hypothermia, police said.

Windom is suspected of speeding up behind another car near the Lake Station exit of westbound I-80 on Thursday, flashing his headlights, then pulling alongside and firing at the car. No one was struck.

The Charger had been reported stolen in Milwaukee on Thursday, according to state police. They said there are several warrants out for Windom's arrest, and he is a suspect in a homicide in Lake County, Ind.
