Full Version: Rockaway Beach Music Festival
City by the Lake.org, The Voice of Michigan City, Indiana > City by the lake > City Living
NorthCoastMusic
For the third year running, Adam Lingenfelter and Publicity Stunt will be hosting Rockaway Beach, a free music festival featuring local musicians and bands from Michigan City, LaPorte, New Prarie, Chicago, and the state of Wisconsin.

This year, we will be pursuing newspaper coverage from the News Dispatch. It is held annually, growing every year. We are currently only using one stage, the Jaycee Stage, in Washington Park.

Music includes acoustic acts, blues-rock, alternative, punk, and hardcore punk. The music gets harder as the sky goes darker. The first band starts a little after 1:00pm, and the last ends around 11:00pm. 10 groups are slotted to play as of right now. Most booking was already finalized three months ago, and the last shifts have just occurred, adding another acoustic act and dropping a band out of Chicago.

Last year was rained out, with the largest storm of the Summer cutting the music short just two hours in.

Here's looking to great weather for this year!

I am also currently working on getting another free, annual show going at the Michigan City skate park. I'll let you all know if that goes through.

So tell your friends, kids, and neighbors about this year's show. It should be a blast.

Sounds like a good time. My son will be back in town in time to attend this, and I know he'd have a good time, this music is what he enjoys.....
I'll be sure to pass the word along....

We need to have more activities like this every summer weekend.

Just sent in a proposal for another show in August - this one at the Michigan City skate park.

Hopefully that show will go through, as well.
