GOP caucus set to fill ballot vacancies

MICHIGAN CITY — Keith Harris, La Porte County Republican Party chairman, has called a caucus to fill Michigan City municipal-ballot vacancies for the November general election at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Station 801 Restaurant, 801 Franklin St.

The caucus is to fill nine vacancies on the Michigan City ballot. Vacant positions are in wards 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, three at-large council positions and city clerk. Anyone wishing to be considered must be a resident of the respective ward or a city resident to be considered for any citywide positions. They also must have voted Republican in the last primary election in which they participated.

Potential candidates must file their candidacy using a CAN-48 form that can be obtained from the Republican office or County Clerk’s office.

The form must be filed no later than 48 hours prior to the start of the caucus or no later than 10:30 a.m. June 22, and be filed with the county clerk and Republican Party chairman.
