That's the same gas station you used to be able to go fill your car up and then get a pound of weed. I think shortly after they remodeled they got busted, lol.

You just don't get that kind of full service anymore.
Roger Kaputnik
Were they paying the contractors doing the remodeling with bricks of weed? Were they using FibreWeed panels?
Ang
laugh.gif That's a good one Rog. FibreWeed panels. OMG! laugh.gif

Makes me think of Cheech & Chong

Maybe the people who got busted for the MJ house plants should consider a remodeling job and can have their home done in FibreWeed panels!!

Nice to see that the gasoline merchants in our fair City wouldn't use a hurricane to crank up gas prices by 65 cents a gallon or anything. mad.gif

Make that 75 cents... Gas is 4.47 at Jewel's gas station. Scumbags.
Roger Kaputnik
If an oilworker on a rig eats a bad burrito, Fambly Express is usually the very first to jump prices.

Here are who seem to be last: The two stations at Karwick and 20; the Citgo shooting gallery on Mich.; sometimes the station fka Peggys; and, a newcomer, the Marathon station on Michigan where the Clark station used to be.

((yarbles))
Ang
THAT IS INSANE!!!!!!!!

YOU GUYS ARE A WHOLE DOLLAR MORE THAN WE ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Southsider2k12
Just in case anyone was wondering the shortterm delivery contract for gasoline is actually down 19 cents from Friday's close, not up 75 cents...

Does anyone know if MC has laws on the books against price gouging?
Roger Kaputnik
Doesn't seem to, but let's check the Indiana Code.
Ang
This morning, gas was $3.57/gal.

How many people do a daily read of the feedback section on the ND still? For those that do, is Mike not the funniest thing going on?
Ang
I wonder who that guy is? I picture a slightly disheveled man with a mild developmental disability. He's lonely and seeks the company of the cyber-world.

Poor fella. I usually skip over what he writes. Sometimes he makes me laugh, but usually I don't read what he writes. It is absolutely positively confusing sometimes.

It's that Michael Voisinet dude that has been posting for a coupl'a years now.

maybe we should invite him to the board?

I'm not sure he'd appreciate how he's been characterized here. I'm a little uncomfortable w/ it.

On the other hand, his comments were posted publicly, so it's probably not unfair to talk about them. Carry on smile.gif

Somalia's pirates seize 33 tanks
IPB Image The waters off Somalia are among the most dangerous in the world A Ukrainian ship seized by pirates off the coast of Somalia was carrying 33 tanks and other weapons, the Ukrainian defence minister has confirmed.

Earlier, the country's foreign ministry said the ship had a crew of 21 and was sailing under a Belize flag to the Kenyan port of Mombasa.

There has been a recent surge in piracy off the coast of Somalia.

Russia announced on Friday it would start carrying out regular anti-piracy patrols in the waters off Somalia.

A navy spokesman said a warship had been sent to the area earlier this week to protect Russian citizens and ships.

Somalia has not had an effective national government for 17 years, leading to a collapse of law and order both on land and at sea.

Somali pirates are currently holding more than a dozen hijacked ships in Eyl, a town in the semi-autonomous region of Puntland.

Senior UN officials estimate the ransoms pirates earn from hijacking ships exceed $100m (£54m) a year.

Speed boats

It was not immediately clear where the Ukrainian ship had been taken.

The Ukrainian foreign ministry said the captain of the Faina cargo ship had reported being surrounded by three boats of armed men on Thursday afternoon.

Defence Minister Yury Yekhanurov confirmed that 33 Russian T-72 tanks and "a substantial quantity of ammunition" were aboard.

He said all the weapons had been sold in compliance with international agreements.

IPB Image IPB Image IPB Image
Battles and looting in MogadishuLife in Somalia's pirate town Earlier reports suggested that the cargo was destined for south Sudan, however Kenyan government spokesman Alfred Mutua confirmed that the tanks were going to Kenya.

"The cargo in the ship includes military hardware such as tanks and an assortment of spare parts for use by different branches of the Kenyan military," he said.

Security analyst Knox Chitiyo told the BBC that the incident showed that the waters off Somalia's coast had become a "global security problem".

"Piracy has become big business and there seems to be no concerted response to the problem," said Mr Chitiyo, from the London-based Royal United Services Institute.

Last week, France circulated a draft UN resolution urging states to deploy naval vessels and aircraft to combat piracy in the area.

France has intervened twice to free French sailors kidnapped by pirates. Commandos freed two people whose boat was hijacked in the Gulf of Aden earlier this month.

After an earlier raid in April, six arrested pirates were handed over to the French authorities for trial.

International navies have been escorting humanitarian deliveries to Somalia, where a third of the population needs food aid.

Flourishing industry

Pirates have seized dozens of ships from the major shipping routes near Somalia's coast in recent months.

Pirate "mother ships" travel far out to sea and launch smaller boats to attack passing vessels, sometimes using rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs).

IPB Image International navies have been escorting aid deliveries Authorities in Somalia's semi-autonomous region of Puntland say they are powerless to confront the pirates, who have been growing in strength. In Eyl, where ships are held for ransom, a flourishing local industry has developed.

Insurgents in Somalia, not known to have links to the pirates, are currently battling a combination of government troops, their Ethiopian allies and African Union peacekeepers in Mogadishu and other parts of southern Somalia.

The US has an anti-terror task force based in neighbouring Djibouti and has carried out several air strikes against the Islamic insurgents, accusing them of sheltering al-Qaeda operatives.

I lucked into front row seats right behind the third base tarp for that game. I got champagne sprayed on me by Jim Thome and Juan Uribe. Greatest.Game.Ever!!!!

WOW! It was on friggin' cable, so I could only follow online. I think it STINKS that the division series are only on cable, and this important game, and good game--congrats, Sox!--was on a nationwide blackout.

Hey All!

Someone requested to add me as a friend on Facebook. Trouble is, I'm not sure who the person is. If it was anyone from CBTL, please PM here so I know it's you.

Thanks

you could be a friend of a friend and get requested

Ang
Yeah, but we don't have any friends in common.

It's snowing here today. We're supposed to get 6-8 inches by nightfall. The temp is only 35 degrees. The snow is coming down pretty hard and starting to stick to the grass and trees.

I AM SO NOT READY FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

((grumpy))

For all the newbies, this is a catch all thread for people who have something to say that's not really on any topic. Also, the words in double parentheses is a game we've been playing on this thread. The next person to post in this thread (if you want to play--it's not required) will add a word starting with the last letter of the previous word. So, who ever posts after this will put a word that starts with 'y'. The double parentheses indicate that the word is a game word and not part of the post.
Southsider2k12
I think that is natures payback for the cheap gas prices out there!

[[yes]]
Ang
Yup, we totally skipped fall and went straight to winter. Man, that really creates a vacuum!

Woke up with about 4 inches on the ground and it's been snowing on and off most of the day but now it's really starting to pick up. They're calling for 10-14 by morning.

((stinks))
Ang
We got lucky with only 6 inches of snow. Yesterday was definitely a winter wonderland. It's very strange to see all the snow on the ground and the leaves still on the trees. Today the leaves are all starting to fall which looks even stranger on top of the snow.

The sun is out today so most of the snow should melt away.

((suffer))
Ang
I updated my avatar to show you guys a picture of the snow we got last weekend.

It's all gone now. The temps are in the upper 60's today and tomorrow.

Aaahhhh.....
Life in the high desert, where you never know what weather to expect for the day. It's best to pack a suitcase with clothes for three seasons if you're going to be gone all day.

It's snowing again. This was taken with my phone about an hour ago, and another inch has accumulated on my car in that time. It's my car you see in the pic.

Question: Do you give candy to kids who do not dress up for Halloween, or refuse to say "Trick or Treat!" when they ring your door?
Roger Kaputnik
If they are not dressed up, then one may assume they are merely chaperones. Not saying the magic phrase may depend on the age and demeanor of the supplicant.

My personal favorites are the parents who come out as a pair with a baby that obviously cannot eat table food, much less candy (say...less than 6 months old). Go buy candy the day after Halloween when its 1/2 off if you want it that badly.

We brought the 10 month old with and gave her a bucket to keep her entertained. But we did not take her to any doors, and we told anyone who tried to put candy in it not to do so, because she wasn't going to be eating it.
Roger Kaputnik
Did YOU dress up?

Nope. I am not much into Halloween at all. I never really got into it while growing up. I did have fun with the kids though. It is amazing how they change your perspective on things.
