MICHIGAN CITY | A Michigan City man was killed in his home on the 500 block of East Eighth this week, police said.
Officers found Henry Whitten dead in his home early Thursday, Michigan City police said. Police were dispatched to the home at 6:21 a.m. for a welfare check.
Police said they think Whitten was killed Wednesday night or early Thursday. They did not release details of how Whitten was killed but called it a heinous crime in a press release.
LaPorte County Medical Examiner John Sullivan said a cause and manner of death was pending an autopsy which is scheduled for Friday.
Police issued a press release Thursday evening pleading for help from the public. They described Whitten as a quiet leader.
