Today marks the 20 year anniversary of one of the worst catastrophes in the history of Northwest Indiana. On Halloween afternoon at 3:57 PM, October 31, 1994 American Eagle Flight 4184, from Indianapolis International Airport to Chicago O'Hare International Airport crashed in a soybean field in Newton County near the town of Roselawn, Indiana.

All 68 people died instantly (64 passengers and 4 crew members). The cause of the crash was loss of control due to atmospheric icing of the wings.

The Lincoln Township Fire Department in Thayer, Indiana was first emergency respondersthat came to the crash site.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the victims family, friends, emergency workers, investigators and all others involved.
