MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (WNDU) About 50 headstones and statues were knocked over at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Michigan City, and police want your help finding the person or people responsible.
The vandalism was discovered Thursday morning.
A portion of the outer fence was damaged as well. Police believe it was a random act of vandalism.
With the help of the Indiana State Prison Community Service work crew and the maintenance staff of the police department, Michigan City police worked to lift the headstones back onto their bases.
They discovered some minor damage to the stones, and some small statues and markers couldn't be repaired.

Anyone who disturbs, defaces, or damages a cemetery monument, grave marker, grave artifact, grave ornamentation or cemetery enclosure is committing cemetery mischief, a class A misdemeanor.
