Larry Butcher is the director of Homeland Security for LaPorte County. He also deals with Emergency Management. He says even though there wasn't a tornado, he would rather be safe than sorry.
But parents in the area disagree.
"It puts a lot of fear in people, especially older people,” said Nathan Meeks, who lives in LaPorte. “And they think 'Wow do I have to hide? What do I have to do? Do I need to go in my basement?’ It could cause a lot of… just things that shouldn't happen."
"Especially when you have little kids, it scares them more than us," said Bryley Langford, who lives in LaPorte.
