A local teacher is up for a big honor.


The Indiana Department of Education released the State Finalists for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science.




Michael Maesch from Knapp Elementary School in Michigan City is one of three finalists in the math category.

They will now move on to the national level.

There will be a recognition luncheon for them later this year.
