Due to COVID-19 and in the interest of public health and safety, we have decided not to host the Taste of Michigan City® in 2020. The two-day event was originally planned to be held on Friday, July 31 and Saturday, August 1.

The Taste of Michigan City is an annual event started in 2010 and hosted by the Michigan City Mainstreet Association. It brings dozens of local restaurants to the Uptown Arts District® (UAD), allowing our community and guests to sample the many exciting dining options available in and around Michigan City. The event also gathers musical acts and includes a beer garden that features beverages from local breweries and wineries.

The Taste of Michigan City is one of many events that we host throughout the year. These events include Shelf Ice Brewfest®, the St. Patrick’s Parade, Flame and Flair Uptown Halloween Festival, and Swale Music Fest, the latter also being canceled due to the current global crisis.

“The MCMA’s Taste of Michigan City” is a large, vibrant community gathering. While it saddens us not to host the event this year, we do not believe that it is possible to stay true to the mission of this event while prioritizing public health. For that reason, partnered with the unknown COVID-19 climate in the upcoming months, we have decided not to move forward with this event in 2020. We are dedicated to continued quality programming in the Uptown Arts District and look forward to the 2021 Taste of Michigan City,” stated Abby May, MCMA president.
