Even before Saturday nights win vs Gary Roosevelt, the computers have Michigan City rated as the #60 team in the state of Indiana, out of 417 teams. They are#2 in the DAC, behind Lake Central (rated #5 overall), and ahead of Chesterton by 5 spots (#65). Laporte is rated #79 so far. Within Sectional 2, Michigan City is the highest rated team by the Sagarin Computers.

Also worth mentioning is that City has played the #35 toughest schedule so far this year, which is by FAR the toughest of any DAC or Duneland team to this point. The closest is LaPorte at #67 and Lake Central at #91.

A really bad lost to La Porte in the championship game. The wolves looked confused the whole game on both sides (offense and defense) . The first game that they barely won against was bad also. If Chesterton that #10 kid that wasn't hurt on the bench, Chesterton would of easy won by 10+ points. They better pick it up if they want to win the sectional this year that is all I'm saying, or it will be another disappointing season in the den.

Maybe the kids were thinking about finals. Why would the administration reschedule a game when finals are Thursday and Friday?

Recapping tonights MCHS Wolves basketball win by the numbers. The 74-56 win represnted City's highest point total of the year (74), and their biggest win of the year (18) The win also put City at 9-3, which ties the 1996-97 team for best start after 12 games in post-consolidation history.

City played 13 players by the time the 3rd quarter had ended. They were led by Senior Keenan Simmons who had 27 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, 4 dunks, including a SportsCenter worth alley-oop from Luke Dauer.

Of the 13 who played, all players either contributed points, rebounds, or both. 11 of them score points tonight.

The scorers were as follows, Dauer 11, Hemphill 6, Miller 6, Pawloski 6, Wilson and Barron 4. Zach Stewart in his very first shot as a Varsity Wolf dropped a three pointer in. Also with 3 was freshman PG Jaronde Boyd. Putting 2 points in the books were frosh Troy Jones and frosh Tyler Games.

To recap, that is 3 freshman who scored in this game, all before the end of the 3rd quarter.

City goes out to Bishop Noll of Hammond tomorrow to look to get their 10th win of the season for the 5th straight season.

City beats Clay 75-50.

City's 10-3 mark after 13 games is their best mark ever since consolidation. The 1996-7, 1997-8 and 2000-1 teams all started out as 9-4. The 75 points were the City has scored in 2013/4, and the highest point total since an 82 point out put in 2008. The 15 point win was the biggest win of 2013/4 and the biggest for MCHS since a 31 point win over Chesterton in Jan 2011.

Recapping the Wolves 59-49 win on the road in Chesterton. Michigan City is 11-3 on the season, and 4-0 in the DAC. Chesterton falls to 9-6 and 2-3.

High Point and rebound man for City tonight was again Keenan Simmons, but that doesn't nearly tell the whole story. Simmons finished with 13 and 8, along with 2 blocks. 10 of those points came in the 4th to put away the Trojans. The big stars of the game tonight were Brad Pawloski and Mike Miller who came up with 12 and 10 points respectively. Miller did the main ballhandling, during the decisive 2nd half run, and grabbed 4 offensive rebounds to continue big posessions for City. Also scoring for City included Shayne Barron with 9 off of the bench, Luke Daurer with 8, Donnie Wilson with 4, and Hemphill and Jones with 2 each.

City's next game is at home tomorrow night against South Bend Adams. The win tonight by City also sets up a match up of undefeated DAC teams with Lake Central next Thurdsay night on the road, which could be the biggest game towards crowning the DAC champs this year.
