The starting line up didn't play starters minutes from the guard positions. That next group played a ton more as the season went on, and especially in the sectionals.

They lost because no kid on the team decided to step up as the #2 scorer on the team. If Simmons was covered or in foul trouble, the rest of the team played scared. Someone out of Miller, Hemphill, or Jones needed to step into that void. That hurt them worse than anything. The perfect example was at LaPorte when the whole starting line up was in foul trouble, and the second unit did nothing but stand around and pass the ball. There was way too much talent on that team for Keenan to have to do the heavy lifting by himself.

And they lost the sectional because either the Coach never came up with a strategy to shut down Fleming, or because the team didn't execute the strategy they were given to shutdown Fleming.

Pointing a figure at Boyd's kid is so far down the list of issues with the season, it is just silly.

The best scorers got the ball plenty, and didn't do anything with it. Like I said, the #1 problem was the group that the secondary scoring should have come from, didn't step up.

So why would you have some of your 2nd, 3rd leading scorers on the bench? That just doesn't make sense, why not start them from the beginning? All the secondary scoring was coming off the bench, and you expect them to get going. It would of made more sense to get those guys going from the beginning and not throw them in there to "save" the game. Which is what Boyd would do during the regular season.

Next star and he can't shoot the ball??? I don't see it because athleticism alone doesn't cut it in the DAC. Miller, Pawloski, and Barron should of been more of a focus on the offense, and it was tough for Dauer because his ankle was never 100%. He would of had a great season if it wasn't for the ankle.

Not can't, won't. Big difference. There was pretty much no one in the DAC who could keep Hemphill in front of him when he decided he was going to the rim. To me he looked like a sophomore who was deferring to the older kids on the team, even though he really didn't need to. ShanQuan is going to make a big leap next year. We saw it from Ryan Taylor after Washington graduated. We saw it from Keenan after Taylor graduated. You'll see it from Hemphill next year.

Because of the injuries, I don't think Daurer was ever a realistic candidate for a starting job, or even major minutes. Even with as little as he played this year, he sat out games at the end of the year because of pain. He couldn't have played anymore than he did this year. It is really too damned bad, because this team would have been so much better with Luke healthy for the whole season.

Barron came on as the season went along, but still has some serious defensive limitations. They used him well in specific match ups, but not enough to expose him. He'll be much better for his senior year next year. I think I saw the switch go on for him.

Pawloski's injury really hurt him as well as his reluctance to shoot the ball early in the season. He went through the same thing that Daurer did last year where he had to stop thinking the game, and just shoot the ball when he was open. Brad didn't play his best ball really until the last month or so of the season.

Miller's missing the first six games of the season is important here also. Even after that, he had to get his game action in. He really didn't look fully comfortable until late in the season either. He carved out his spot in the rotation as the season went on, and his minutes increased as the season went on because of it. At that point, it is tough to completely change your rotations, because it also affects the other 10 guys getting regular minutes.

Troy Jones is the other guy to keep an eye on. He is an NCAA PG if he puts his tools and athletic ability together with some hard work and heart.
